Na de tweede wereldoorlog kwam hij via zijn broer terecht bij het militaire muziekkorps in Assen. Zijn dagen bestonden uit wat exercitie en repeteren en in de zomer verkaste de Kapel naar Bloemendaal. Er werd op tal van plaatsen gespeeld: op de Afsluitdijk, voor repatriëringsschepen uit Indië, voor soldaten die naar Indië vertrokken. Prins Bernhard verzocht de Kapel om voor een jaar naar Indië te gaan om daar de mannen te vermaken. Op 16 oktober 1946 vertrok de kapel met De Volendam. Vanuit kamp Doeri ging men naar Weltevreden en van daaruit naar Bandoeng. Er waren optredens voor hoogwaardigheidsbekleders, de radio en de soldaten. De geïnterviewden hebben bijgedragen aan een schat aan informatie voor onder andere beleidsmakers, onderzoekers, media en het geïnteresseerde publiek.</p><p>Onderstaand treft u de links naar de metadata van alle interviews. De  interviews zijn om privacyredenen alleen na toestemming van het Veternanen Instituut toegankelijk.
