Zijn ouders woonden op een onderneming. De geïnterviewde kwam in een kamp en in de Tangerang gevangenis. Hij vertelt hoe het er aan toeging. Na zijn herstel na de bevrijding, ging hij bij de politie. Zijn werk in 1946-1947 was zuiver politiewerk, zonder politieke verwikkelingen. De slechte voorbereiding en bewapening kostten hem en zijn collega's bijna het leven, toen er op een dag een patrouille moest worden uitgevoerd om criminelen of rampokkers te arresteren.</p><p>1164.2 De geïnterviewde vertelt hier verder over zijn ervaringen van zijn kampleven. Hij vertelt meer over zijn belevenissen na de eerste politionele actie, onder andere over de oprichting van politieposten. Hij zat elf maanden in het binnenland, tot juli 1948. De geïnterviewde kwam hogerop en werd ingezet om de strategisch gelegen sluizen van de irrigatiewerken te bewaken tegen infiltranten en sabotage. Het gezag werd steeds minder en de situatie steeds moeilijker te handhaven. De geïnterviewde ging toen, in 1951, in op het aanbod in om als politieagent in Nieuw-Guinea te gaan werken.</p><p>1164.3 De geïnterviewde vertelt over zijn werkzaamheden in Nieuw-Guinea. Hij deed veel inlichtingenwerk over mogelijke Indonesische infiltraties. Eind 1951 werd de geïnterviewde overgeplaatst naar Ransiki, waar een bestuurspost en politiepost moesten worden opgericht. In de beginperiode in Nieuw-Guinea was het voor de geïnterviewde erg wennen na zijn ervaringen in Indië en Indonesië, ook in de omgang met de Papoea's. Men koos ervoor om geen onderzoeksproject op te zetten, maar om zich te concentreren op het verzamelen van de verhalen van mensen vanuit archiveringsoogpunt als basis voor toekomstig onderzoek.
