Ze verhuisden een aantal keer. De geïnterviewde kwam na 1948 uiteindelijk op een onderneming te wonen in Bandoeng. Het was er gevaarlijk. De dreiging van de nationalisten zorgde ervoor dat ze niet meer op de onderneming kon wonen. Westerling viel in die tijd Bandoeng binnen. De geïnterviewde had geen goede ervaringen in Indië, haar gezin kon niet bij elkaar blijven, en haar leven was vrij eenzaam en vervreemd van de buitenwereld.</p><p>De echtgenoot van de geïnterviewde is ook geïnterviewd voor het SMGI-project. Men koos ervoor om geen onderzoeksproject op te zetten, maar om zich te concentreren op het verzamelen van de verhalen van mensen vanuit archiveringsoogpunt als basis voor toekomstig onderzoek.
