Hij is zijdelings familie van de familie De Ruyter, waaronder een aantal penningmeesters van het Bazenbondje en eigenaren van café 't Sluisje, het vergaderlokaal van het Bazenbondje, te vinden zijn.<br>Cees is opgegroeid op de Buiksloterdijk en verkeerde als jongen ook veel op de Nieuwendammerdijk. Cees vertelt over vroeger en over het heden van het Bazenbondje.<br>Ondernemers worden aangemoedigd om met elkaar zaken te doen, als netwerk heeft de vereniging ook betekenis buiten de doelstelling als ziekenkas om. Cees legt uit dat hij een loods heeft verkocht met bouwtekeningen voor een woonhuis. De tekeningen zijn gemaakt door een architect binnen het Bazenbondje en de zakelijke afhandeling wordt gedaan door de penningmeester, Jan de Ruyter, een gepensioneerd accountant en ondernemer. Cees kan het ondernemersschap niet loslaten, met een lid van het Bazenbondje koopt hij panden op voor belegging of verhuur.
