Zijn vader zat bij het KNIL. Hij vertelt over het handelen in producten om aan geld te komen. Bijna de hele oorlog is de geïnterviewde buiten het kamp gebleven. Twee keer kwam hij kort in een kamp terecht. Tot slot vertelt de geïnterviewde over de capitulatie en het begin van de bersiap tijd.</p><p>1116.2 De geïnterviewde vertelt verder over de bersiap tijd. Hij werd in de gevangenis gezet. Er werd pressie uitgeoefend om voor de Indonesische kant te kiezen. Na zijn studie in Nederland ging hij als ambtenaar aan het werk in Nieuw- Guinea. De geïnterviewde vertelt over zijn werk en beschrijft hoe hij hiermee verbeteringen probeerde aan te brengen in Nieuw-Guinea vanuit een anti-koloniaal standpunt.</p><p>De echtgenote van de geïnterviewde is ook geïnterviewd voor het SMGI-project. Men koos ervoor om geen onderzoeksproject op te zetten, maar om zich te concentreren op het verzamelen van de verhalen van mensen vanuit archiveringsoogpunt als basis voor toekomstig onderzoek.
