Hij had een schoolopleiding als instrumentenmaker en werd aangenomen als radio- en radarmonteur. In mei 1958 ging hij naar de Luchtmacht Elektronische School in Arnhem voor radio-theorie en vervolgens naar radar-theorie, specialisatie grondradar. Eenmaal uitgezonden naar Nieuw Guinea werd hij gelegerd op The Ridge. Hij werkte hier aan de aanleg van Heuvel 100, een zend- en ontvangststation hoog op een  heuveltop. De geïnterviewden hebben bijgedragen aan een schat aan informatie voor onder andere beleidsmakers, onderzoekers, media en het geïnteresseerde publiek.</p><p>Onderstaand treft u de links naar de metadata van alle interviews. De  interviews zijn om privacyredenen alleen na toestemming van het Veternanen Instituut toegankelijk.
