Hij groeide op een onderneming. De geïnterviewde schets de leefwijze en de gebruiken die hij gewend was. Tijdens de bezetting zat de geïnterviewde in dienst. De geïnterviewde schetst zijn ervaringen van de ontwikkelingen van de strijd. Hij werd krijgsgevangen gemaakt en kwam in werkkampen terecht. Hij vertelt over zijn kongsi. Zij wisten zichzelf op de been te houden en stiekem wist men de aanloop naar de capitulatie te volgen.</p><p>1192.2 De geïnterviewde schetst nogmaals een beeld van het krijgsgevangenschap. Hij vertelt over de bevrijding. In deze periode moest de geïnterviewde weer in dienst. Hij werd onderofficier. Hij gaat in op de hiërarchie en beschrijft de militaire acties.</p><p>1192.3 De geïnterviewde vertelt verder over de militaire acties, waar hij als verbindingsman bij betrokken was. Hij schets een beeld van het militaire leven en gaat in op hun contact met vrouwen. De geïnterviewde beschrijft hoe hij na zijn demobilisatie aan de slag ging in Indië. Hij gaat in op zijn ervaring van de soevereiniteitsoverdracht.</p><p>Familie van de geïnterviewde is ook geïnterviewd voor het SMGI-project. Zie interview 1194. Men koos ervoor om geen onderzoeksproject op te zetten, maar om zich te concentreren op het verzamelen van de verhalen van mensen vanuit archiveringsoogpunt als basis voor toekomstig onderzoek.
